Servings: 5 people
Ingredients
  • 500 gm beef sliced,1 cm thick
  • 200 gm mushrooms sliced
  • 4 tbsp dark soy sauce or 6 tbsp light soy sauce
  • 2 medium onions sliced
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil divided
  • 2 tbsp butter divided
  • 1 cup boiling hot water
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup cooking cream
  • pepper
  • salt
Instructions
  1. Place the beef pieces between two sheets of cling film and flatten using a rolling pin or mallet until they are .5 to .75 cm thick.

  2. In a plate, add the flour and season with pepper. Cover the beef slices with the flour mix.

  3. In a large non stick pan, on medium-high heat, add one tbsp of butter and one tbsp of vegetable oil. Once warmed up, sear the beef slices, without crowding, 1 minute for each side until light brown. Remove the beef to a platter and let stand.

  4. Set the pan over medium heat. Add one tbsp of vegetable oil and one tbsp of butter then add the sliced onion. Cook, stirring, just until softened.

  5. Place back the beef into the pan. Add soy sauce and two cups of boiling hot water and simmer until reduced by half. In this stage, if the beef is not completely cooked yet, add another cup of boiling hot water and simmer until reduced by half again.

  6. Add the cooking cream and mushrooms. Simmer for 4-5 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Serve
